Greetings Festivarians!!
The Grammy awards are Wednesday night. This year's Telluride Bluegrass lineup will be well-represented - with one or more nominations in 9 different categories, including bluegrass, country, folk, pop, and contemporary jazz.
And speaking of awards, Neko Case just won the Female Artist of the Year award from the PLUG Independent Music Awards. Neko will be making her Planet Bluegrass debut at Telluride this June, with fellow newcomers Missy Higgins, Drive-By Truckers, and Stephen Kellogg. Single-day Telluride tickets (and the preliminary schedule) will be available on Tuesday, February 21. In the meantime, check out the new video slideshow on our website - http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/multimedia.html
We've been a little slow on the Lyons lineup announcements, so here are a couple... Steve Earle and the Bluegrass Dukes will be performing at RockyGrass in July. And soul-folk troubadour Amos Lee, who has been touring with both Bob Dylan and Norah Jones recently, will be at Folks Fest in August.
For those of you in Colorado, don't miss Ralph Stanley at the Boulder Theater on Tuesday, February 21. More info below.
Finally, our sincerest condolences go out to Earl Scruggs and his family after the passing of his beloved wife and business manager, Louise Scruggs on February 2. As Ricky Skaggs remembers in her obituary, "Business-wise, I don't know anyone who has promoted bluegrass to the masses anymore than Louise Scruggs was able to." She will be dearly missed by all of us in the Planet Bluegrass family.
Best,
The Folks on Planet Bluegrass
